Jerash spring

A herd of goats browses in new growth at Jerash, Jordan. In the biblical period Jerash was known as Gerasa, a member of the league of the Decapolis. The site name is tied to a textual controversy in the story of Jesus, a healing encounter, and a herd of swine (Matthew 8:28; Mark 5:1; Luke 8:26). This site is a spectacular visit; it is the best preserved Greco-Roman city in the Levant.
