Hercules' knuckles

They say that the Temple of Hercules on the Citadel of Amman (Jabal al-Qal'a) was identified on the basis of these three fingers (some coins helped too). As you can imagine from the scale, the temple must have contained a monumental likeness. In 1986 I found Hercules' knuckles (and the gatekeeper with a rose) mounted on the stairs leading into the Citadel Museum. A bit of elbow was located more recently, but the rest of this Roman hero is gone for good, likely a casualty of an earthquake.
