"Her children arise and call her blessed"

The quote, of course, is drawn from the poem of Proverbs 31 celebrating a wife of noble character. It is a lovely acrostic to be shared on Mother's Day, or on any day for that matter! 

Pictured here are the twelve Apostles flanking Mary (a mum of some renown) in a wall mosaic inside the crypt of the Abbey of the Dormition. The Abbey is a stout structure found on Mt. Zion, Jerusalem, commemorating the memory of Mary's death (or "sleep," hence the name "dormition"). The building was constructed between 1898 and 1910 upon the footprint of the Byzantine-era Basilica of Hagia Sion.
