Apart from the fact that dress in Palestine in 1977 was as tasteless as dress in America in 1977, I have little to offer about this picture. It fell into my hands as part of an anonymous donation of slides to the Cincinnati Christian University in my teaching days there. "Palestine 1977" was inked on the cardboard border. Nothing more.
I imagine the boys stopped their play to eye a group of camera-wielding tourists file down the road. Do you think it was an awkward moment? Look at their hands. This could be Nablus or Hebron or anywhere in between.
