A third Christian structure (see previous POTDs) found on the hillside of Beit Jala, Palestine, is the Church of the Annunciation (Al-Bishara Church). It is part of a center that serves the local Roman Catholic community. Besides the sanctuary, the complex hosts a secondary school for children and a seminary for training young men from Israel, Palestine, and Jordan for the priesthood.
The Church of the Annunciation was built in the decade of the 1850s. It operates under the auspices of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem
It should not be confused with the Basilica of the Annunciation located in Nazareth of Galilee.
