The historic Egyptian Museum (also known as the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities) in Cairo, Egypt.
After more than two decades of anticipation, the transition of Egypt’s primary archaeological treasures is nearly complete. The historic Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, a staple of Cairo since 1902, has passed the torch to the state-of-the-art Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Following its official grand opening (the deadline keeps creeping forward), the GEM will be the world’s largest museum dedicated to a single civilization.
