The Strangler Fig Tree Arch: Trekking in Arusha National Park, Tanzania

The Arusha National Park in Tanzania is a small but mighty escape—where volcanic drama meets some way-cool biology. We’re exploring it with Peter, my friend and mountain guide.

A short hike from Momella Gate, a massive strangler fig has swallowed the road to create a living tunnel. It’s big enough for a safari vehicle and marks a legendary pitstop for hikers heading up the slopes of Mount Meru. Photo moment!

Peter and Mark take the obligatory shot.
