Primate Play: The Safari Experience That Felt Like a Recess

A troop of vervet monkeys was fooling around our lodge this afternoon. Their antics took me back to 7th grade all over again.

Vervet monkeys are highly social, playful primates that engage in energetic, semi-arboreal, and ground-based play. The activity builds strength and social bonds.

Zebras and wildebeests drank the muddy water, flicked their tails, rolled in the dust, and fussed with each other. It may have just been in my head, but somewhere I could hear the soundtrack of "The Lion King" playing.
